Subsequently, the bast was recreated into a cat - most revered in Egyptian mythology. Moreover, the name “bast” was later changed to “bastet,” which means “female.” It is said there are hundreds of thousands of mummified cats found since archeologists began exploring tombs in the Valley of the Kinds and elsewhere.
